Zumba Weight Loss – Your Holiday Survival Guide

One key factor in avoiding gaining weight over the holidays is to continue your Zumba Weight Loss Classes and diet.

[A Typical Example of an Unhealthy Holiday Meal]

However, the most important factor is to avoid firing off your holiday season eating triggers. You know, the foods that make you pig out which usually includes…

  • The Turkey, Gravy and Stuffing
  • Desserts
  • Cookies
  • Pies
  • Casseroles
  • Potatoes

Of course, the stress of having friends and family all over the house. All these things are usually responsible for getting you to begin "binge eating" and forget your fitness goals.

During the holidays, the average American will gain anywhere from 1 to 5 pounds or more of unattractive body fat.  Most people will gain weight if they are not conscious of what they are consuming.

Unfortunately, the holidays tend to be a personal free-for-all for most people.

If you’re looking for more tips to help you shed body fat and reshape your body you might want to try the Zumba 5 day express diet book.

With more visual, social triggers, and food triggers, than at any other time of the year, we often just let ourselves go throughout the entire holiday season right to New Year’s Day.

Imagine two months of overeating starting from Thanksgiving and continuing on through the New Year. This is unhealthy and as you can imagine not a great idea. It’s during this particular time of the year that you really need to focus on your fitness goals.

Weight-Loss Tips To Help You Burn Fat with Zumba Dance Classes And Diet

Here some tips that you can use during the holidays to help you stay on track or at least not completely derail your nutrition program.

  • Drink green tea at least an hour prior to your holiday dinner. Green tea has the advantage of helping speed up your metabolism and suppressing your appetite.
  • Decide in advance what are the foods that you want to eat. If you’re going to allow yourself a slice of that apple pie make sure it’s not a huge slice and use some low-fat low-calorie whipped cream – if you must have something sweet.
  • Explain to your host unless you’re the one doing all the cooking – that you want to enjoy your holiday meal however, you don’t want to eat large portions. Get him or her on your side.
  • Don’t make your nutrition or diet program everybody else’s problem or business. Just eat smaller portions and still have a little of everything.
  • Get to your Zumba class or do some cardiovascular exercise as soon as possible after the holidays are over.
  • If you normally go to one or two Zumba classes during the week – make a commitment to go more frequently to burn off those extra holiday pounds.

How Many Calories Does Zumba Burn in 60 Minutes Or One Hour

A typical 60 minutes or one hour Zumba class – depending on the intensity – can burn anywhere from 500 to 1000 calories.

However, even aerobics exercise – like Zumba – is not enough.

Your diet will determine your success in burning fat off your body. While exercise does a great job in its ability to boost metabolism and you can lose weight with Zumba alone, the one-two punch is to combine aerobic exercise such as dancing movements, with a diet that includes toning, body shaping exercises and fat burning foods.

If you are interested in monitoring how many calories you burn the best tool available is a heart rate monitor.

Here’s the one I personally use ==> Polar FT4 Women’s Heart Rate Monitor Watch (Bronze)Heart Rate Monitors).

Surviving the Holidays Or Any Time of the Year

However, it is still possible to survive the holidays or anytime of the year when you’re going to be faced with additional "TEMPTATIONS."

All you need to do is make a few simple adjustments and be conscious of what you’re putting in your mouth.

Planning ahead is the one piece of advice I can give you if you are going to someone else’s home.  Have a large salad with lots of protein in the afternoon before you leave.  Even if you are staying out of town do this.

Keep in mind, that if you feel full before you sit down at the dinner table you’re going to be less likely to overeat. The major advantage of doing this is that you’ll be able to try out many of the different goodies – in small portions – without blowing your diet or overdoing it.

Make sure that you always eat breakfast.

If you feel fuller before you head to the dinner table, you will be less likely to over indulge.  Second, you will be able to sample and graze all the food delights without overdoing it.  Remember to eat a normal breakfast that day minus any carbs, save them for the Holiday meal.  And do the same thing the following day.  No carbs, normal breakfast, lunch and dinner with your usual snack and you should not see the scale move at all!

Just get right back to your Zumba Weight Loss routine and be ready for the next event or party.

Another trick is to offer to bring some veggies or carbs that you prepare.  This way you are pretty safe with turkey, just stay away from anything from inside the bird and if you bring your own sides you know you can eat them, because you know what went into them!

If you are preparing your holiday meals in your own home, you have complete control!  Use some of the recipes on this website or devise some great dishes of your own, your waistline will thank you. And again, get right to your Zumba weight loss plan as soon as possible.
